The sequel to the Harry Potter franchise “Fantastic Beasts” is a solid film. The film has some clever moments and has a better plot than its predecessor, but it still suffers from some distracting moments. And while the cast is as good as ever, there are still too many actors to keep the film interesting. And the film is still over two hours long. The movie’s biggest problem is that it has no real point to drive home.
Grindelwald’s Relationship with Dumbledore
While Dumbledore had been a loyal and trusted advisor to Grindelwald throughout his life, there were a number of points that make this character unlikable. Grindelwald was bigoted and placed great value on the “purity” of magical blood, which made him a threat to the wizarding lineage. Although he was ultimately defeated by Dumbledore and his followers in Fantastic Beasts, Grindelwald was still a worthy adversary.
Its shortcomings as a sequel
While there’s nothing wrong with a sequel, the same mistakes often occur in a first film. For example, the writer of “Jurassic World” often fails to capture the audience’s attention, or takes too long to complete the project. That, and the sequel’s reliance on flashback scenes, inflated the book’s word count, and made the sequel seem disjointed.
Its lack of depth
Unfortunately, “Secrets of Dumbledore” has all the hallmark problems that make a bad film a bad one. The film doesn’t make much sense, relies on characters knowing things they shouldn’t, and relies on ridiculous characters acting stupid. In other words, there’s no real story here and the script is insultingly idiotic. If you’re expecting a sequel to the first Harry Potter movie, this is not the film for you.

Its lightness
While Harry Potter is the most popular franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them doesn’t live up to that legacy. While the film contains a lot of Easter eggs from the original series, the movie doesn’t quite reach the level of its predecessors. It lacks the original’s magic and the original series’ intriguing characters and storylines. Regardless, the film is an enjoyable watch.
