“American Idol 2022” will have new judges in its fifth season and the return of some of the old favorites. The showrunner, Megan Wolflick, has confirmed that she will bring back Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan to the show. The show will also bring back contestants from past seasons.
Cole, who went viral for his singing videos with his sister Katie, is a favorite among fans. Hunter Wolkonowski, 23, from Tennessee, has received a platinum ticket. She is the youngest contestant to win the competition and was deemed “the best female country voice in five years.” The judges were surprised by her performance, but she will have another chance to win the show.
Noah Dawson proved to be a worthy adversary during the show’s competition. His rendition of Kamerlowe’s “Giving You Up” left the judges breathless. He stepped up his game in each round and wowed the judges with his performance. The judges also admired his unique take on Rihanna’s “Stay,” which surprised the judges.
The new season of American Idol premiered on Sunday, February 27, at 8pm ET/5pm PT. The show continues to air on ABC and can be streamed on the ABC app. Contestants who made it through the audition round will compete for America’s votes.
