In order to strengthen the agriculture marketing, the Union Agriculture Ministry has launched various new features of the e-NAM platform to reduce the need for farmers to physically come to the wholesale market for selling their produce.

About Electronic National Agriculture Market

It is a pan-India electronic trading platform aimed at creating a unified trading national market for farm produce.

In order to protect the interest of farmers and their exploitation by large retailers, the state government has established an Agriculture Produce Market Committee.

It is implemented by Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium(SFAC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Newly Inducted Features

The following electronic portal has been introduced in the electronic National Agriculture Market platform:

  • Farmer Producer Organizations(FPOs) have been launched to upload assaying reports/photos of their produce from their premise for bidding.

Benefit- It will reduce the hassle of FPOs to deal with mandis, the logistics cost and promote ease of doing business

  • Logistic Platform has been made for linking logistic aggregator platforms so that traders are able to use the platform and select the appropriate service providers.

Benefit– The logistic platform will ensure the uninterrupted transportation of agriculture produce.

  • Negotiable Warehouse Receipt Platform to enable small and marginal farmers to directly sell their stored produce from registered warehouses.

Benefit- Farmers can sell their products across the nation without going to the mandis and can save logistics costs involved. Price stability can also be achieved by matching demand and supply through time and place utility.
